Canon Expo at the Jacob Javits Center

At Canon Expo this year, we provided not feet, not yards, but over a mile of drape. Working with MC², we blanketed New York’s Jacob Javits Center for this year’s Canon Expo (expo.usa.canon.com), a once-every-five-year exhibition that rotates across many international locations. The last Canon Expo held in New York City occurred in 2005.

MC², specializing in booth design and event production, contracted with Drape Kings for this massive project. The Javits Convention Center’s Halls 3A-B consists of no less than 274,000 sq. ft of space with combined rooms that are 456′ x 645′ in size and windows alone at that are over 30’ high. Within those parameters, Drape Kings will provide a range of drape beginning at 5’ high and exceeding over 40’ in height. The drape extends to the ceiling structure of the Javits’ vast event space controlling and masking light, which is essential to exhibiting imaging equipment.

In the days leading up to the Expo, Drape Kings and Javits’ decorators hung several thousand feet of their 22 oz. heavyweight black velour: a true blackout drape. Add in some traditional trade show banjo and a selection of white velour, and Drape Kings is providing more than a mile of drape to Javits’ for this amazing event.

Universal Screen Surround With A Skirt / Header Clamp

After a successful introduction in America at last years InfoComm, we’re re pleased to introduce the Universal Screen Surround solution to Europe at PLASA 2010 (we’ll be at stand 2-SP12).

Drape Kings Skirt / Header Clamp

The Skirt / Header Clamp is for creating an adjustable screen surround. Utilizing two clamps, a screen surround can be created in just about any size, 16:9, 4:3, etc. – up to 16’ wide. The process of setting up a screen surround is easy:

  • Start by assembling your screen; front or rear projection
  • Place two (2) uprights, base and pins to th eleft oand right of the desired makd image width, using pipe and drape hardware
  • Sleeve a black upright ‘pole-sock’ over the upright, minimizing any glare or reflection from the pipe
  • Sleeve on the valance to a horiztontal drape support
  • Hook into the top slots of the two uprights
  • Lock the skirt / header clamp onto the upright at the appropriate height for the bottom masking skirt
  • Sleeve skirt onto the horizontal and install between the Skirts / Header Clamps
  • Adjust the fullness of the drape

Other uses include creating knee walls and staggered ceiling solutions.

Dora the Explorer’s 10th Anniversary Backpack Launch

Over the years, Drape Kings has accomplished many feats other companies cannot, but on August 10th, we completed a task that even impressed us.

We provided pipe and drape for Macy’s Herald Square’s gigantic celebration of Nickelodeon character Dora the Explorer’s 10th anniversary. In honor of the show’s longetivy, many celebrities designed their own Dora backpacks for exhibition at the event.

Now, due to the intense timing of the event, we had to remove all 550 feet of our drape in less than an hour, so the store could go back to its regular customer schedule. No problem for the Kings! Our guys were able to get all of the pipe and drape off display, into our hampers, and out of the store within an hour. Talk about fast!

You can see our Bleached White Muslin drape in action in the video below:

We’re going to LONDON!!!

Drape Kings has booked a stand at one of Europe’s premier trade fairs, PLASA. We are excited about introducing Drape Kings pipe and drape systems to the Europen market.

European events have traditionally used hard wall schemes for events. This can be costly, especially in today’s economic enviroment. Pipe and Drape systems, as utilized in the Americas, can offer a very cost effective and flexible alternative.

We will be in London from September 12 through the 15th for the show, booth 2-SP12, located at Earl’s Court in downtown London. If you will be attending this show, please stop by our booth for more information on our pipe and drape products.

Also, until the end of the year, European companies receive an extra 10 percent off their purchase. Contact us at +1 201 770 9950 for more information.
